Biography:

Barbara Connolly is currently a Guidance Counselor at The Hillside School, an accredited elementary, K-6 coed day school for children with learning disabilities. For eighteen years Ms. Connolly served as an elementary guidance counselor in public and independent schools in Eastern Pennsylvania. She began her career as a secondary English and Social Studies teacher in New Jersey. Ms. Connolly earned an M.A. in Education and Counseling from Villanova University. Working directly with learning disabled students, Ms. Connolly addresses both learning and social/emotional needs. She has planned and facilitated parent workshops on a variety of issues including the social challenges of children with learning disabilities, strategies for addressing ADHD in the home setting, and educational transitions. She has also presented in-service workshops related to topics including bullying and working with issues of childhood grief and loss. In coordination with teachers, Ms. Connolly helps to guide students through the process of understanding their individual learning profiles and developing self-advocacy skills as they prepare to exit The Hillside School.
