Biography:
Joan Green, the founder of Innovative Speech Therapy, is passionate in her efforts to spread the knowledge of her exciting approach for helping people improve communication and cognition. Her expertise, developed over the past 20 years, involves integrating technology and other resources into treatment to help clients, patients and students realize their potential with practical, efficient and affordable solutions. Her mission is to empower people with disabilities to use the powerful tools of technology to improve their lives. Joan is concerned about people becoming discharged too soon from therapy due to the trend toward fewer reimbursable speech sessions.
Joan has spoken extensively to professionals as well as clients and caregivers at the local, state and national level to promote the integration of computers and technology into treatment. She leads professional workshops and speaks at a wide variety of seminars. Joan trains professionals and graduate students to incorporate technology into sessions. She consults with aphasia centers, regular and special education schools, assistive living facilities, hospitals, rehabilitation centers and senior centers to facilitate the coordination of computer based programs for people with communication and cognitive challenges. Joan attends many conferences and continues to very actively research potential therapy resources, products and therapy techniques.
She is always looking out for new innovative ways to help her clients. Joan is the founder of two short-term technology oriented intensive programs in Potomac, Maryland and now offers online training and coaching opportunities for professionals and caregivers.

Joan received her undergraduate and graduate level education and training at Northwestern University. She grew up in Buffalo, NY and lives in Potomac, MD with her husband Mark, their four children and Honey - their yellow lab.
