              Educational Awareness – History, Changes, and Future of Education
              Explore the history of formal education and the public school system, hierarchy of education worldwide and the multiplicity of programs including special education, gifted education and magnet programming within the United States.  Learn of the influence of early leading education philosophers such as Dewey, Vgotsky, Piaget and Montessori, and discover your own education philosophy.  You’ll learn about current trends and direction in education along with education laws, rights and responsibilities, including laws on special education for both the recipient and his/her general education peer. 

              May 6
              Making the Right School Choice – Education Models and Learning Sciences
              Identify and explain all alternative education models to include Charter, Homeschooling, Religious, Montessori, Reggio Emelia, Arts, Prep/IB, and more.  You will be presented with the benefits, challenges, strategies, resources, and performance indicators to seek out the most appropriate model for the child.

              Leadership Skills for Parents
              This workshop will expose you to invaluable leadership skills so that you may effectively establish and manage your child’s education.  We will explore leadership principles of vision and involvement, identify techniques such as developing a vision, communicating with teachers, discerning when leaders should follow, negotiating with education staff, motivating your learner, leading or participating effectively in meetings and more.

              June 3
              Education Planning for Parents
              This workshop will help you create and navigate an education plan for your child’s lifelong education experience!  You will learn all the necessary parts of a strategic “education” plan and see how easy it is for you to make it come alive.  Using a template, you’ll lay a framework for your education plan including what resources and persons to involve and when, career goals, which education model to use, the influence of generational legacy, flexible alternatives and more.
